The discussion will focus on the zero-fare proposal, analyzing its impacts on reducing structural inequalities, expanding democratic access to the city, and promoting sustainable mobility solutions. The conversation will also highlight zero fare as a form of emancipation for Black communities, who are often confined to their territories due to the inability to afford transportation costs. At the same time, it will raise the issue that, in some places where zero-fare policies have been implemented, they have failed to reach those who need them most—underscoring the importance of changing the logic behind city organization and public policy design. The session will take the form of a debate panel, with presentations by the speakers followed by audience participation, in a critical and forward-looking approach.
