Young Cities, Living Cities: Environmental Education as a Pillar for Action

The event “Young Cities, Living Cities: Environmental Education as a Pillar of Climate Action in Aracaju”, part of the UN-Habitat Urban Circuit 2025, will take place in October at EcoEduca headquarters, located in the Dom Luciano José Cabral Duarte Center of Excellence in Aracaju, Sergipe. Lasting three hours, the event will bring together students, educators, and youth and community leaders to reflect and act on the urban climate crisis. The program will be divided into two parts: an opening panel discussing the role of youth in climate action; and hands-on workshops on how to make natural paints and use them in sustainable decorations with recyclable materials, as well as composting and food reuse for healthy urban gardening. Inspired by the vitality of Sergipe’s youth, the gathering seeks to strengthen environmental education as a driver of transformation, encourage practical and replicable solutions, and promote community engagement in peripheral neighborhoods. The event aligns with SDGs 11, 13, 4 and 10, aiming to build fairer, greener, and more resilient cities.
