World Habitat Day 2025 Global Housing Crisis Challenges and Opportunities

Urban October is a month dedicated to promoting urban culture and sustainable development in cities. Every October, it brings together local and national governments, universities, organizations, and communities to lead and participate in events, activities, and dialogues on the challenges and opportunities of urban sustainability. This year, we are called upon to address urban crises; the factors that contribute to inequality will be addressed and solutions for effective action will be promoted. The Urban Management and Development programme, in commemoration of its 20th anniversary and in partnership with the United Nations Agency for Urban Settlements, UN-Habitat Andean Region, invites all its internal and external communities to join us in the Celebration of World Habitat Day 2025, which will mark the beginning of Urban October and will take place on Wednesday, October 1, in our University's main branch, Claustro. In line with the global celebration, it will focus on responding to urban crises, addressing factors that contribute to inequality and promoting solutions for effective action. It will be a space where actors from the academic community, as well as institutions from all sectors and civil society, can meet and promote partnerships, knowledge exchange, and concrete actions for safer, more inclusive, and sustainable cities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in our ExpoURBANA, where entrepreneurship iniative, interactive activities and local projects related to our city will be shared.
