Heavy rains and lack of urban planning affect this underserved peripheral neighborhood, where hillside homes collapse during the rainy season, putting the lives of the quilombo residents at risk. This event aims to show society how the community lives and highlight the urgent need for public policies that ensure housing and well-being for its residents. Everyone, without exception, has the right to the city. At the same time, the event seeks to alert institutions to the importance of preserving and safeguarding the knowledge and practices of the quilombo community. Many residents built their own homes using ancestral techniques such as adobe and pau-a-pique construction. This history, as well as the daily life of the community, must be preserved, respected, and protected.
