In the framework of the Urban October that the United Nations organizes annually, The UNESCO Housing Chair of Rovira i Virgili University and an expert panel, propose to provide some keys to understanding the important challenges posed by sustainable urban development in Mediterranean cities. Taking into account that this year the Urban October focuses on the climate crisis, under the slogan “Better city, better life”, we will try to review the main challenges facing the Mediterranean region in relation to climate change in urban space from a medium city, Tarragona. Thus, coastal zones, climate justice and cultural legacy will be analyzed from the perspective of the “right to the city”. All of the above adjusted to the recommendations of the New Urban Agenda and the main international agreements related to climate change.
