Virtual Monuments: Memory, Art and Collaborative and Transnational Technology

Virtual conversation table about the collaborative and transnational art and technology project “Virtual Moments”, a partnership between Brazil and South Africa. Realization based on audio and video records of the urban habitat of the Brazilian cities of Santa Maria (RS) and Fortaleza (CE), and the South African city of Durban. The proposal aims to rethink the memories of the peoples involved, experimenting with emerging media and exhibition formats, such as projection on planetarium domes, 360º panoramic screens and video mapping. Now, “Virtual Moments” reinforces the partnership with the city of Salvador (BA), it also opens up to the public through connections on online networks, valuing the ephemeral memories of living in a daily life during the pandemic of COVID-19. Questioning the official narratives and notions of monument, with practices in art and technology, as a breath of resistance and revitalization for the cities of a future post-pandemic world, under poetic mediation with a contemporary look.
