Promoting sustainable and inclusive urban growth

The Municipality of Rabat has implemented a comprehensive urban development initiative under its “Rabat a Sustainable and Inclusive City” vision. This initiative focuses on improving quality of life through public space enhancements, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion.

Over the past decade, Rabat has introduced new public facilities, including community sports grounds, swimming pools, and expanded green spaces. The city has also developed a robust public transport network, promoting connectivity and environmental sustainability. Events such as the Jidar Street Art Festival further contribute to Rabat’s cultural and social vibrancy.

“We are honoured to receive the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award 2024, which represents a prestigious international distinction, awarded to Rabat in recognition of its exceptional efforts in urban planning and sustainable development,” said Fatiha El Moudni, Mayor of Rabat.

Rabat’s urban planning efforts, aligned with SDG goals, demonstrate a balanced approach to urban development that addresses social equity, environmental sustainability, and community well-being.
