Urban Sustainability

This October, the city of Criuleni’s local administration holds a month dedicated to activities, events, and discussions focused on urban sustainability. This annual program invites residents to engage in meaningful conversations on the city's challenges and opportunities, working together to plan for Criuleni’s future. Through events and discussions, the administration, community groups, and stakeholders foster collaboration on urban initiatives. Urban October’s primary goal is to raise awareness, drive participation, share insights, and involve the international community in advancing sustainable cities. This year’s discussions covered key topics in urban development, including: • Encouraging private-sector investment in sustainable urban infrastructure • Making the city more attractive to investors • Empowering local authorities to make sustainable decisions To support sustainable urban growth, cities must explore diverse funding options and innovative financing. Partnerships among the public, private sector, and community organizations can create unique opportunities that benefit all, fueling sustainable progress. Focusing on sustainability, we must strengthen local green frameworks to boost private and public investment, accelerating our shift to a climate-friendly economy. Addressing essential themes—such as housing, environmental preservation, accessible transit, job creation, and urban planning—keeps young people engaged and contributes, step by step, to shaping a better urban future.
