Budaiya Hub proudly announces the successful launch of Phase II of its flagship initiative, “Find us at the Park,” aimed at raising awareness of green spaces in the Kingdom, particularly regarding extreme heat amid climate change in the Arab Gulf. Building on the successful Phase I, which mobilized over 70 young talents to survey 156 parks in Bahrain, the initiative has evolved into “Shaping Cooler Parks” to enhance thermal comfort. This phase involves passionate community members and experts addressing urban environmental challenges by collecting surface temperature readings and conducting street interviews to assess the thermal experience. Key collaborative events engage private stakeholders and leverage UN Habitat's outreach to connect with local communities. Drawing from the spirit of dialogue and sharing best practices, Phase II will participate in the 12th session of the World Urban Forum in Egypt. This study exemplifies the power of collective change and engagement in tackling climate change and extreme heat. The collected data will deepen our understanding of urban heat dynamics and inform actions for more sustainable, livable cities, focusing on accessible green spaces and participatory design to redesign four parks in Bahrain.
