The "Find Us at the Park" pilot project, initiated in February of this year, sought to underscore the significance of parks as integral community spaces. As we celebrate Urban October, it's important to note that this project has currently extended to support the UN-Habitat's "Bahrain National Wide Public Space and Afforestation Assessment", launched in September. Through this, we have mobilized over 30 volunteers, who have been instrumental in gathering valuable parks related data. In recognition of their remarkable efforts, we organized a check-in event at Abu Subh Park in Bahrain. During this event, we engaged in insightful discussions stemming from the volunteers' experiences in assessing Bahrain's parks. Key topics included the pivotal role of afforestation and the contribution of natural cooling mechanisms to enhance thermal comfort within these park spaces. The "Find Us at the Park" project aligns with the spirit of Urban October, and is contributing towards an important UN-Habitat initiative promoting the importance of green spaces and community engagement within urban environments. As we learn from UN-Habitat, we remain committed to the sustainable development of our urban areas, making them more livable and ecologically sound for all.
