Urban Futures Forum 2026 – Cities, People and Public Spaces, organised as part of Urban October 2026 on 30 October 2026 (World Cities Day), is a one-day knowledge-sharing and interactive programme focusing on emerging urban challenges and the future of inclusive, equitable and sustainable cities. The programme brings together students, faculty, urban professionals and experts to explore people-centred approaches to urban development. The programme begins with a PhotoQuest in Kozhikode, encouraging participants to observe and document the city's streets, public spaces and everyday urban life. This is followed by the inauguration of the photography exhibition and competition. The academic programme features expert sessions on “The Future of Inclusive Cities” and “Cities, People and Public Space,” addressing urban transformation, housing, public spaces and inclusive urban development. The Urban Lens 2026 Photography Competition Showcase highlights selected entries, while an interactive session on photography and cities explores visual storytelling as a tool for understanding urban spaces and communities. The programme concludes with discussions on urban challenges and a valedictory session.
