“Urban Environmental Sustainability: Knowledge in Debate” is a key initiative aimed at deepening discussions about the future of cities. In alignment with UN-Habitat guidelines, the event focuses on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) — while also integrating SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Our main goal is to foster a qualified public dialogue and highlight the progress and research developed by the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urban Sustainability (PPGSAU) and the Jaime Lerner Chair, both of which play a vital role in advancing sustainability discourse. The program is organized into two thematic modules: 1) Emerging Urban Challenges – addressing the complexities of global environmental change, socioeconomic inequalities, and the urgency of innovative public policies for building more resilient and inclusive urban environments; 2) Integrating Data for Urban Sustainability – exploring Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and the transformative role of data collection, analysis, and technological innovation in urban planning and decision-making, fostering smarter, people-centered cities. The event will be held in a hybrid format, offering both in-person participation at the Paraná Institute of Engineering Auditorium and live online streaming. It is aimed at academics, professionals, and the wider public interested in building fairer and more sustainable cities.
