Urban Design for Everyone is a three-hour educational workshop for young people interested in architecture and urban planning, organized as part of their preparation for the Architecture Olympiad. The workshop explores how urban spaces can be designed and transformed to better respond to the needs of their users while supporting inclusive and sustainable urban development. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of urban composition and will examine how the scale, proportions, functions, greenery and spatial organization of streets, squares and public spaces influence everyday urban life. Particular attention will be given to universal design and accessibility, highlighting the importance of creating environments that can be comfortably used by people of different ages, abilities and needs. The workshop will also address sustainable urban design, climate-responsive solutions and contemporary approaches to the regeneration of cities and public spaces. Examples of current urban practices and trends will help participants understand how cities are adapting to social and environmental challenges. The session will conclude with a practical design exercise in which participants will develop their own proposal for transforming an existing urban space into a more accessible, sustainable and people-centred place.
