Urban Agroforest: sustainability and sustenance

Agroforest, or Agroforestry System (AFS), is a system that reunites crops of agronomic importance in consortium with the forest. An agroforestry system is a system of planting sustainable food, recovering the forest, aiming at planting methods that understand the way the forest naturally develops, combined with sustainable cultivation practices. In this scheme, each organism has its specific role, whether to improve soil quality, to serve as fertilizer, to protect from the wind, creating an integrated and harmonious environment. The objective of this event is to consider the principle of agroforestry as a fundamental part of sustainable urbanism, taking the concept to the cities and demonstrating the human interaction with the creation of a self-sustaining environment, considering economic, ecological and social benefits.
