The event “Urban Afforestation and Quality of Life in Serra Talhada” aims to discuss the importance of urban tree planting for mitigating climate change, improving air quality, reducing heat islands, and enhancing public spaces. The activity will be organized by the Municipality of Serra Talhada, through the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment, as part of the 2025 Urban Circuit. The meeting will focus on the local experience of the Arboriza Serra project and the implementation of the Municipal Urban Afforestation Plan, which have been promoting the expansion of green cover and raising community awareness about tree care in the city.
The format will be a roundtable with local experts, public managers, and civil society representatives, followed by screenings from the Circuito Tela Verde [Green Screen Circuit], offering reflections and inspirations on best environmental practices.
The proposal is to engage the population in a collective vision of a greener, healthier, and more resilient city, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those on climate action, sustainable cities, and reducing inequalities.
