Cities around the world are facing numerous crises: starting with environmental and climate change hazards, or the COVID-19 pandemic, to war and violent conflict. In this special session of GIZ’s Thematic Forum urbanisation, we will explore how GIZ can best support cities in crises. The event will comprise three sessions: before (prevention), during (managing the emergency), and after a crisis (rebuilding). Each will be initiated by an input from an external speaker, and complemented with practical experience from the work of GIZ. Panellists include representatives of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the London School of Economics (LSE), UN-Habitat as well as the International Crisis Group.
