State of the Map LATAM 2026 is Latin America's leading regional conference on open geospatial data, bringing together governments, academia, civil society, technology communities, and international organizations to advance evidence-based decision-making through open mapping and geographic information. The 2026 edition will showcase how collaborative geospatial ecosystems can support sustainable development, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, urban mobility, and digital inclusion across the region. A key highlight of this year's conference is the Government Challenge, an initiative designed to connect public servants, geospatial experts, researchers, and risk management practitioners in the use of OpenStreetMap and other open data resources to address pressing urban public policy challenges. Participants will explore innovative approaches to improving public transit data, strengthening exposure and vulnerability assessments, enhancing preparedness and response capacities, and building institutional geospatial capabilities. Through technical sessions, case studies, and cross-sector dialogue, State of the Map LATAM 2026 will foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity development to accelerate the use of open geospatial data for more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities throughout Latin America.
