Smart Cities: Financing, Sustainability, and Inovation

The event aims to foster debate on the challenges and opportunities of urban development, through a multidisciplinary analysis that integrates law, urbanism, innovation, sustainability, and governance. In line with the SDGs and the main pillars of smart cities — Financing, Sustainability, and Innovation — discussions will cover, among other aspects, Tax Reform, the role of new technologies, and climate change mitigation measures. The program will feature moderation by Dayana Machado and an institutional opening by Maíra Fonseca, “The SDGs and the ESA OABPR.” A series of presentations will follow: Cíntia Fernandes, “Smart Fiscal Instruments”; Alberto Paranhos, “Smart Cities: Focusing on the Population”; Thomaz Ramalho, “Innovation, Sustainability, and Curitiba”; Ângela Costaldello, “The Brazilian Climate Change Control System”; Carlos Hardt, “Institutional Challenges of Metropolitan Cities”; Regina Maria Bacellar, “Smart Cities and Legislative Challenges”; and Luiz Ugeda, “Governance, Justice, and Algorithms.” The format combines brief, focused presentations followed by a debate, ensuring a dynamic and plural exchange. The event seeks to foster dialogue across different fields of knowledge and strengthen connections among experts, public managers, and civil society. Its goal is to inspire new practices and the collective construction of innovative solutions that can effectively contribute to more human, sustainable, and resilient cities.
