The Social Work with Older Adults program of Sesc RJ (TSI), in partnership with the Sesc+ Sustainability project, presents the event Sesc+ Sustainability – Horticultural Therapy through an Ancestral Lens. The initiative consists of free weekly gatherings held every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sesc Barra Mansa Unit, throughout the year, in a green space suitable for the development, cultivation, and maintenance of gardens. The program includes conversation circles, storytelling, sensory dynamics, and hands-on soil activities. It respects the rhythm of the aging body, embraces gentle approaches, and values life experience as a form of scientific and cultural knowledge through the recovery of memories and popular wisdom (related to medicinal plants, non-conventional edible plants (PANCs), vegetables, greens, aromatic and seasoning herbs, cultivation, and nutrition, the event promotes self-care, healthy eating, and social connection through collective gardening and the creation of a shared space for coexistence).
