Under the vision to achieve sustainable urban development by 2030, San Nicolás de la Garza invites its community to join the #RetoUrbanoSNG2030 (SNG2030 Urban Challenge) towards the positive transformation of the city. People of all ages are encouraged to make creative urban Mininterventions on a neighborhood scale using recycled material or from community action. We want to get to know and showcase what the organized and participatory Nicolaíta community is doing in their city to address various challenges. The Mininterventions should make visible an existing challenge and how it could be addressed creatively under the community leadership while promoting: the improvement of the public space and image of the city; soft mobility (non-motorized); care for the environment; implementation of nature-based initiatives; waste collection, recycling, or water management; integration of vulnerable groups; and/or attention to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. The challenge starts the first week of October and the reception of the Mininterventions — through video capsules where participants explain the challenge, its solution, the execution process, and the result — will last until October 25. The most outstanding Mininterventions will be disseminated in municipal and UN-Habitat networks at the global level from October 26 to 31.
