The event Responsive Cities: Urban Innovation from the Ground Up is part of UN-Habitat’s International Urban Circuit and focuses on building more human and innovative cities through the collective power of grassroots initiatives. Its goal is to create an international dialogue space — rooted in local realities — bringing together public managers, community initiatives, researchers, and city-makers to reflect on how to make territories fairer, more accessible, sustainable, and resilient.
In sync with the global theme of the 2025 Urban Circuit — “Tackling Urban Challenges: Pathways to Just and Sustainable Cities” — the gathering will explore the importance of responsive cities: those capable of addressing contemporary challenges such as the climate crisis, urban inequality, and the pursuit of social cohesion in inclusive and creative ways.
The event will feature thematic panels and inspiring talks that amplify the voices of initiatives already transforming realities in their territories. More than a space for discussion, it is an invitation to collective action and cooperation among diverse actors — connecting local experiences to the global movement of Urban October promoted by the United Nations.
