Reforesting Cities

The Da Mata collective works with the environment and cultural initiatives, mobilizing artists and residents to engage through art, culture, and environmental education in the restoration and preservation of the Atlantic Forest in the neighbourhood. The focus of this discussion is to highlight the importance of environmental considerations in shaping a more dignified future in cities. The populations living in the outskirts of major urban centres are directly affected by the lack of planning. Considering environmental issues alongside housing policies helps reduce population concentration in high-risk and environmentally sensitive areas. Reforesting the city contributes to biome preservation and strengthens efforts to slow down global warming. Therefore, community participation in the reforestation debate is essential for creating a more dignified urban life. Once our commitment to nature is sealed, the collective responsibility for its care becomes urgent.
