This event will address Climate Action and the Urban Environment, a key theme of Urban Circuit 2025, focusing on the climate disasters that struck Rio Grande do Sul in 2024. The discussion will explore integrated national actions for disaster risk reduction and management, professional accreditation, resilient urban recovery, and practical case studies in the region. Promoted by CAU/BR in partnership with the National Secretariat for Protection and Civil Defense (SEDEC), the event will present SEDEC’s structural actions in protection and civil defense (prevention, mitigation, etc.), as well as the Public Interest Technical Assistance Pilot Project (ATIP) by CAU/BR, carried out in Canoas and São Leopoldo, in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The initiative connects the Council to the broader Civil Defense network of actors. Held in a panel and debate format, the event will adopt a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together perspectives from architecture, urban planning, and civil protection. The goal is to analyze adaptation strategies and the role of urban planning in reducing vulnerabilities, proposing practical solutions to build fairer, more sustainable, and climate-resilient cities, while showcasing the mobilizing potential of architects and urban planners.
