The theme of our event will be “Reframing Spaces: The Creative Occupation of the Queixadas.” Our proposal is to present the experience of the Queixadas Occupation, in Cajamar (São Paulo), as an example of urban resistance, grassroots planning, and the struggle for adequate housing. Comprising 105 families organized by the Luta Popular (Popular Struggle) movement, the occupation is structured as a space for political education and collective construction, where housing is understood as a vector of social cohesion, dignity, and development. The event will focus on promoting a sustainable and collaborative occupation of the area, highlighting the importance of community participation and creativity in urban transformation. To this end, the program will include workshops, discussion panels, and artistic interventions, engaging residents, local artists, urban planning experts, and representatives of public authorities. Our approach will be interactive, allowing participants to share their experiences and ideas on how to revitalize the Queixadas, creating a space that reflects the community’s identity and respects its culture. Topics such as the social function of urban property, the role of Special Zones of Social Interest (ZEIS), and the importance of community-led urban planning as a tool for territorial justice will be discussed. This event is directly related to the 2025 Urban Circuit’s thematic line on adequate housing and the reduction of urban inequalities, promoting an innovative and inclusive vision of urban occupation. We will emphasize the integration of art, culture, and sustainability, presenting the Queixadas as an urban laboratory where new practices can be tested and valued. The objective is to strengthen social cohesion and transform the urban experience in Cajamar, fostering a more sustainable and participatory future.
