The proposal aims to hold a webinar with experts and government representatives to discuss alternatives for scaling up Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) projects in Brazilian cities. The extended title of the proposal is intended to attract municipal public managers and present strategies for implementing NbS, as well as pathways for contracting such initiatives within the public sector. “Pathways for Scaling Up Nature-Based Solutions in Brazil – How to Implement or Contract NbS Initiatives in Your City.” The goal of the event is to move the debate from theoretical discussion to real-world implementation, addressing the challenges of contracting, executing, and accessing resources for NbS projects. The discussions will be based on the project developed by the Center for Strategic Management and Studies (CGEE) on green infrastructure for the development of Brazilian cities. The session will showcase the types of Nature-Based Solutions most suitable for urban contexts in Brazil, real project experiences, and, especially, strategies to expand the adoption of NbS through public sector contracting. This event aims to provide high-quality information to public managers seeking to implement sustainability projects in their cities but facing difficulties in justifying innovative contracting formats or in accessing financial resources for NbS initiatives. The idea is to move beyond theoretical debates by presenting concrete ideas, step-by-step guidance, and models that facilitate the adoption of NbS in Brazilian cities. In doing so, the activity applies in practice the thematic focus on climate action and urban environment—that is, how to implement actions that promote sustainability and climate adaptation in urban areas. Our proposal directly aligns with the Urban Circuit 2025 theme, “Addressing Urban Challenges: Pathways to Just and Sustainable Cities.” In response to this year’s reflection, we propose a webinar that not only provides theoretical insights but also highlights practical and contextualized alternatives for Brazilian municipalities on how to contract and implement more Nature-Based Solutions projects—an essential strategy to promote climate resilience in urban territories.
