Our Common Future - Prototyping Urban Futures

On the occasion of UN World Cities Day 2025, the DIALOG CITY project invites citizens, municipal representatives, cultural practitioners, and changemakers from across Europe and neighboring countries to join us for OUR COMMON FUTURE – Prototyping Urban Futures, an interactive online event exploring people-centred digital transformation in small and medium-sized cities. In alignment with this year’s theme, “People-Centred Smart Cities”, this event will showcase how civic imagination and futures literacy can empower local communities to play an active role in shaping more inclusive, accessible, and human-first urban environments. Through a combination of keynote presentations, workshop insights, and live discussions, the event will: - Highlight participatory methods and creative tools used to engage citizens in imagining future scenarios for their cities; - Share lessons learned from the implementation of the OUR COMMON FUTURE workshops across European cities; - Offer practical examples of how cultural and digital innovation can support equitable access to housing, digital literacy, and democratic participation; - Provide a platform for local governments and civil society to exchange strategies for embedding people-centred approaches into urban digital transformation. At the heart of this gathering is the belief that smart cities are only truly smart when they serve human needs — ensuring dignity, equity, and opportunity for all. By sharing prototypes, tools, and community experiences, we aim to foster international cooperation and inspire collective action towards a more inclusive urban future. Join us to explore how imagination, culture, and technology can come together to co-create the cities we want to live in.
