Our City Plans: A Global Toolbox for Customized Planning Processes

Please join us Thursday, October 21, 2021 for the Our City Plans launched and a behind-the-scenes look at project office experiences that contributed to the tool. Our City Plans (formerly known as the Participatory Incremental Urban Planning toolbox, or PIUP) is a step-by-step methodology to assess, design, operationalize and implement urban planning processes. By following the toolbox’s proposed timeline of phases, blocks and activities, different urban stakeholders will better understand urban planning processes and can more effectively contribute their voices to the city’s vision, policies, strategies, plans, and projects. Since its launch at WUF10 in February 2020, the toolbox has supported the planning process in 17 different projects in Mexico, Brazil, Cuba, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Ethiopia, Angola, Sao Tome and Principe, and Mozambique. The updated version includes new tools and lessons learned on digital engagement during COVID-19. Phases 3 and 4, Operationalization and Implementation, are currently under development. This introductory webinar presentation is open to urban practitioners from both the public and private sector, members of the online OCP community, and representatives of local governments and other institutions involved in local-level planning and others interested in learning about Our City Plans and case studies that led to its development.
