Evacuation Drill in Caçote – NUPDEC Women This event is part of the NUPDEC Women project, a pioneering initiative in Brazil that trains female community leaders living in flood-risk areas of Recife, strengthening their participation in the Municipal Civil Protection and Defense System. The initiative is carried out in partnership with ProMorar Recife, Civil Defense, the Catholic University of Pernambuco, the Secretariat for Women, and other municipal agencies. Focusing on climate change, risk management, community safety, gender-based violence, environmental racism, and psychological support in emergencies, the project offers training activities conducted directly within the communities. As part of Urban Circuit 2025, an evacuation drill will take place in the Caçote neighborhood for local residents, led by participants of NUPDEC Women. The objective is to guide and mobilize people vulnerable to flooding. The exercise will begin at 7:00 AM, with the arrival of support teams (SAMU, Municipal Guard, Civil Defense, and other agencies). Between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, the simulation will be carried out, including: SMS alerts sent to the community, an extreme event warning, and the evacuation of residents along a pre-agreed escape route toward a designated safe point. The drill is part of the training cycle taking place between September 30 and October 12, 2025, which includes workshops and a closing ceremony with certificate delivery to the new NUPDEC Women agents.
