Nigeria's rapidly growing cities face significant challenges including housing shortages, deteriorating neighbourhoods, informal settlements, infrastructure deficits and inadequate basic services. Addressing these challenges requires moving beyond isolated housing provision towards integrated urban regeneration that improves housing, infrastructure, services, public spaces and livelihoods while protecting existing communities. In commemoration of World Cities Day 2026, the Association of City Managers in Nigeria (ACMAN) organised online webinar to examine how urban regeneration can contribute to adequate housing and more sustainable Nigerian cities with lessons from Egypt. The webinar seeks to: • Create awareness of the 2026 World Cities Day theme and its relevance to Nigerian cities. • Examine approaches to regenerating declining and underserved urban neighbourhoods. • Explore strategies for improving adequate and affordable housing, particularly within informal settlements. • Generate practical recommendations for urban regeneration and housing delivery in Nigeria. Target Participants: ACMAN members, government officials, built-environment professionals, academics, researchers, housing developers, financial institutions, civil society organisations, students, community representatives and development partners.
