The Collective Housing Best Practices Forum & Collective Housing Award 2026 was held on 25-29 October 2026 in Thailand, organised by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, in collaboration with the Community Organizations Development Institute (CODI) and international partners, to promote community-led housing as a key approach to achieving adequate housing for all. The activity brought together government representatives, community leaders, civil society organisations, international experts and development partners from across Asia and beyond to exchange knowledge, share experiences and showcase good practices in collective housing. The forum provided a platform for discussing enabling policies, institutional arrangements, financing mechanisms and partnerships that support community-driven housing development. A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Collective Housing Awards, recognising outstanding initiatives and community-led projects that demonstrate inclusive, participatory and sustainable approaches to housing and settlement development. The activity aimed to strengthen regional and international cooperation, raise awareness of the value of community-led solutions, and reinforce the principle that people and communities must be at the centre of housing development. It also highlighted the importance of collective action in creating not only adequate housing, but also inclusive, resilient and sustainable communities where everyone has a place to belong.
