As part of Urban October 2026, members of the ISOCARP Scientific Committee will share their reflections on how AI, urban data and digital technologies are influencing urban planning, particularly in relation to housing and urban regeneration. How can these technologies help cities better understand housing needs and inequalities? Who benefits from digital innovation, and who might be left behind? And as AI becomes more influential in planning decisions, what should remain a human, political and community-led decision? Committee members will bring perspectives from different geographical and professional contexts, beginning with short reflections followed by a moderated discussion. The session will explore not only what these technologies can offer, but also the questions and challenges they raise for planning practice and urban governance.
