The Forum of China Urban Planning Studies is one of China’s most influential academic gatherings in urban planning. Now in its 23rd edition, it has brought together leading scholars and experts from China and around the world since 2004 to discuss emerging issues in urban development and the future of the planning discipline. Its keynote speeches address the field’s frontiers, while the annual Top Ten Keywords help guide research and practice. The Forum is also an important annual academic conference of the China Association for Science and Technology. Academician WU Siegfried Zhiqiang, Editor-in-Chief of Urban Planning Forum (China’s most influential Chinese-language journal in urban studies), initiated the 23rd Forum. One of China’s leading urban studies experts, he has spoken at the 12th and 13th sessions of the World Urban Forum and engaged extensively with Anacláudia Rossbach, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat. The 23rd Forum is organized by Urban Planning Forum, the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University, and Tongji Urban Planning & Design Institute Co., Ltd. The China Urban Planning Society, the World Planning Education Network (WUPEN), and Frontiers of Urban and Rural Planning (GUIHUA) are co-organizers.
