Our City, Our Voice: Promoting Resilience Through Community Urban Demand for Dutse-Apo District To advance a better urban future, IRIAD will convene a Community Dialogue on the above theme in Dutse-Apo District, an urban poor and economically marginalized community in Abuja, to develop a Community Urban Demand (CUD). The activity addresses a gap in urban governance and sustainable development, where communities experience the impact of planning and development decisions but have limited opportunities to participate, engage decision-makers, and influence policy outcomes. The dialogue will be guided by the SPAE-FU Framework: S — Safe Public Spaces, P — Pedestrian Access, A — Accessible Green Areas, E — Environmental Protection, F — Flood Resilience, and U — Urban Basic Services. The CUD will serve as a community-owned advocacy and accountability tool, documenting priority concerns, collective demands, and proposed solutions. It will support engagement with AMAC and FCT authorities, policymakers, and urban development institutions, while enabling communities to track priorities, monitor service delivery, assess government responsiveness, and measure progress in addressing local demands. The activity will transform community concerns into collective priorities, priorities into actionable demands, and demands into sustained civic engagement, strengthening community voice and influence in urban governance.
