The 8th edition of “Encuentro por las Ciudades” is an annual event open to the entire community in Santa Fe, Argentina. It provides a plural and inclusive space for reflection, dialogue and collective thinking on how cities are planned, designed, financed, developed, inhabited and governed. We believe that creating spaces for dialogue, where people can freely exchange ideas and engage through participatory activities, is essential to understanding how we experience the city and how we build a sense of community. The event will feature research on key urban and metropolitan issues, including mobility, waste management, circular approaches to land and buildings, housing and rental markets, socio-urban integration and territorial vulnerability, children’s perspectives on the city, urban heritage, and community-based initiatives. Two participatory workshops and role-playing activities—one open to the general public and another aimed at young people aged 16 to 24—will invite participants to envision the future of Santa Fe towards 2060. Finally, experiences from other cities will be presented to explore different approaches to participatory strategic planning.
