World Green Infrastructure Congress 2026 (WGIC26) will take place from 27 to 30 October 2026 in Barcelona and Lleida, Spain, bringing together leading international experts in green infrastructure, nature-based solutions and sustainable urban development. The congress marks the 12th edition of this global event and is expected to attract more than 500 participants from over 35 countries, including policymakers, researchers, architects, engineers, urban planners, public authorities and industry professionals. WGIC26 will explore how green infrastructure has evolved from isolated pilot projects to a key component of urban policies, building regulations, climate adaptation strategies and public health initiatives. The programme includes keynote lectures, scientific sessions, workshops, technical visits and more than 140 research presentations covering topics such as green roofs, living façades, urban forests, biodiversity, water management, urban resilience and building-integrated greenery. The event will be held across two cities: Barcelona, hosting the main congress, exhibitions and technical tours, and Lleida, where a dedicated innovation and research workshop day will focus on innovation and advances in building-integrated vegetation systems. WGIC26 provides a unique platform for knowledge exchange, networking and collaboration among the professionals shaping greener, healthier and more resilient cities worldwide.
