CIFDH/DD, through the Mate Swell RDC initiative, will organize a conference and citizen-action review in Kinshasa on 31 October 2026, on the occasion of World Cities Day. The event will present the results and lessons of the cleanup activities conducted on 19 September 2026 in Kinshasa and Mbuji-Mayi. It will bring together public institutions, universities, civil society, businesses and development partners to discuss urban sanitation, circular economy, green entrepreneurship, citizen participation and urban regeneration in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In connection with the 2026 theme, “Regenerating the City: Adequate Housing for All,” discussions will examine how cleaner public spaces, responsible waste management and community participation can contribute to healthier, more inclusive and resilient neighbourhoods. The conference will conclude with practical recommendations and a 90-day matrix of achievable commitments.
