The event “Sustainability in Blocks: Participatory Urbanism and Social Technology” introduces a pioneering approach in Brazil by combining gamification, citizen inclusion, and sustainability through the pedagogical use of Minecraft as a collective participation tool. The project focuses on reimagining the Eixo Monumental of Maringá, a central area undergoing revitalization, engaging youth, people with disabilities, the elderly, and other community members in gamified workshops that encourage the co-creation of sustainable urban solutions. The methodology emphasizes open data, social technology, and inclusive urban planning, reinforcing the UN 2030 Agenda, particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). In addition to hands-on immersion, the event will feature a panel of experts and local public leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities for collaborative urban transformation. This is the first edition of the project, with plans for national expansion. The initiative originates from a proposal by Amolemar Barcellos Mesquita, supported by IPPLAM and the Maringá Urbanism Secretariat.
