Held in a hybrid format, this event aims to foster an essential debate on the role of data monitoring in urban planning and management. It will draw on the practical experience of the City of Belo Horizonte, which will present how it has been using information systems and indicators to: *Evaluate public policies *Guide evidence-based decision-making * Enhance the application of the planning instruments defined in the Municipal Master Plan The discussion will center on the powerful relationship between smart cities, data use, and innovation in urban management. Local practices of urban policy monitoring and the assessment of indicators aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be highlighted. The event invites collective reflection on how data production and analysis serve as the foundation for urban transformation consistent with the principles of the New Urban Agenda. This initiative is directly linked to the “Data, Innovation, and Smart Cities” thematic track of UN-Habitat’s Urban Circuit 2025, contributing to the broader discussion on “Sustainable Urban Planning for More Inclusive, Safe, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities.”
