This is a climate action initiative focused on the urban environment, focusing on the need for resilience in a quilombo community located near the urban area and within an Environmental Protection Area (APA). The project examines the impacts caused by a highway that cuts through the area, as well as the use of its lakes and how these factors affect the community’s way of life.
The format will be a video showcasing the best moments of the activity carried out at the local elementary school, beginning with the symbolic collection of waste along the highway and concluding with the quilombola community members returning for a discussion circle with the project collaborators.
The Curiaú Environmental Protection Area plays a key role for Macapá (AP) in producing food through family farming. It also contributes to preserving traditional cultural practices and helps regulate temperatures in the urban area.
