The event “Cities on Alert: Youth for Climate Action and Environmental Justice” is part of the official program of Urban Circuit 2025 by UN-Habitat, aiming to foster dialogue between university students and experts on urban climate challenges and solutions. The activity will be led by members of the Academic Directory of International Relations at PUC Minas – Poços de Caldas Campus and students from the course, with support from Instituto Arvorecer and EMC2. It seeks to highlight the strategic role of youth as transformative agents in building more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally just cities. The program includes a podcast featuring diverse perspectives on the theme, along with the launch of the “Youth Letter of Poços de Caldas for Urban Climate Justice”, a collaborative manifesto proposing local actions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By connecting climate action to social justice and civic participation, the event aims to strengthen networks of cooperation among universities, civil society organizations, and local governments, contributing to the accelerated implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Brazilian cities.
