The Climate Emergency and Necessary Local Actions is an in-person event conducted as a discussion circle with guests who work directly in peripheral, rural, and low-income urban territories, focusing on concrete actions to address the climate crisis based on local experiences and community knowledge.
During the three-hour activities session, experiences and reflections will be presented on:
- Community mobilization in response to climate impacts (floods, heat islands, lack of green spaces);
- Accessible and community-centered environmental education in urban territories;
- Territorial care initiatives led by women, youth, and cultural collectives;
- Existing resistance practices on the city’s margins, even when carried out with minimal infrastructure or institutional support;
- The power of collective action as a tool for urban and climate transformation.
The approach will be participatory and welcoming, fostering dialogue between popular, technical, and institutional knowledge, highlighting the role of urban peripheries in shaping a more just and resilient future.
