The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are part of the 2030 Agenda, a Global Action Plan adopted by the United Nations in 2015 with 17 SDGs and 169 targets aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity and peace for all by 2030—promoting a sustainable, inclusive, fair, and equitable future for current and future generations.
Brazil has also adopted an additional SDG, presented at the UN in 2023: SDG 18 – Ethnic-Racial Equality, with defined goals and indicators.
The event aims to clarify how to apply the SDGs in a transversal and integrated manner, using as an example the Pact for Sustainable Development – My Municipality for the SDGs.
Moderated by members of the National SDG Movement, the event will address four main topics: 1)Integration of the SDGs into regional and local actions, coordinated by the National Commission for the SDGs (CNODS); 2)Benefits and practical ways to apply the SDGs through the Pact for Sustainable Development; 3) The importance of civil society participation through commissions, councils, and movements that integrate the SDGs; 4)Examples of practical SDG implementation through coordination among all sectors of society.
All discussions will primarily focus on SDGs 10, 11, and 13, while also emphasizing the importance of a Culture of Peace and Partnerships (SDGs 16 and 17) and the new national SDG 18.
