The event focuses on local climate governance, with an emphasis on presenting the Municipal Center for Climate Emergencies (CMEC), a public policy initiative developed by the Secretariat for Environment, Sustainability, and Animal Protection of São Bernardo do Campo. The session will feature a presentation of the case, its structure, and work programs. Following the presentation, specialists from civil society, academia, and public agencies will be invited to share contributions, critiques, and suggestions for improving the Center. Designed as a local climate governance body to promote São Bernardo do Campo’s resilience in the face of the climate crisis, the CMEC is framed within the theme “Addressing Urban Challenges: Pathways to Fairer and More Sustainable Cities” and the track “Climate Action and the Urban Environment.”
