The event will address the housing deficit, a central theme in social housing policies. In Brazil, it is calculated by the João Pinheiro Foundation, while in Cabo Verde it is currently under review by the -General Direction for Housing of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, and Housing. The proposal is to promote a debate on the challenges and reflections related to the calculation methodology and the use of data in public policies, focusing on the contexts of both countries. This initiative is part of the Cabo Verde Country Project, developed within the framework of Simetria Urbana, a Trilateral South-South Cooperation led by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by UN-Habitat. The project aims to strengthen local capacities for social housing solutions, including within its scope Technical Assistance in Social Housing (ATHIS) and Social Work, in partnership with Brazilian cooperating institutions with recognized expertise in these areas. More than sharing experiences on the collection and use of quantitative and qualitative data, the event seeks to highlight the learning and new perspectives brought about by cooperation among countries of the Global South, emphasizing the essential role of partnerships in advancing housing strategies.
