Guanabara Bay suffers from the dumping of solid waste, but this challenge has been turned into an opportunity through the Conexão Escola de Tubiacanga project, supported by RioGaleão and coordinated by AMUIG, which teaches music to children aged 6 to 14 using instruments made from recycled materials. Within the INCLUSOM Project, led by Maestro Carlos Rufino in partnership with AMUIG, young people from Praia da Rosa and Sapucaia are introduced to percussion using instruments created from trash collected in the Bay. The INCLUSOM Band will perform at the Corredor Esportivo Municipal Park, in Bosque do Seu Hilário, an area of recent Atlantic Forest reforestation supported by Dimensional Engenharia. In addition to the concert, there will be debates on sustainability and testimonies from orchestra members, AMUIG, and students from the Engenhando a Cidade Project, who will contextualize the importance of the Bay. The event seeks to inspire socio-environmental responsibility and leadership in the cities of the Global South, which are more exposed to social vulnerability.
