The event “Slopes at Risk: Modeling and Urban Planning in Salvador” aims to discuss the challenges and solutions for geotechnical instability in vulnerable urban areas of the Salvador Metropolitan Region, focusing on hillsides occupied by populations exposed to landslides and other environmental risks. The initiative brings together results from scientific research on unsaturated soils, computational modeling, geotechnologies, and multi-criteria analyses, presenting innovative pathways for urban disaster mitigation. The format will be an online seminar, with the participation of professors and researchers from UNIFTC and UFBA, fostering dialogue between science, higher education, and urban management. The approach will highlight the importance of climate action, reducing socio-spatial inequalities, and promoting safer and more sustainable cities, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 11, 10, and 13).
