The webinar “Reabilita Maceió: Densification and Rehabilitation as a Strategy for DUI” will present one of the structuring programs of the revision process of Maceió’s Participatory Master Plan, discussing how urban densification and rehabilitation can promote territorial transformation and social inclusion.
The Reabilita program focuses on the occupation of urban voids, upgrading of informal settlements, and rehabilitation of areas with historical and cultural value, aligning housing, infrastructure, mobility, and cultural preservation. The initiative seeks to promote a compact, sustainable, and integrated city by balancing the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of the territory.
The webinar will be held online and streamed live on the Urban Circuit YouTube channel. It will last up to three hours and include presentations as well as a Q&A session moderated by the Urban and Environmental Research, Planning, and Licensing Institute (Iplam).
As part of Urban Circuit 2025, the event addresses structural challenges such as inadequate housing, inefficient land use, and socio-spatial fragmentation. It also connects to the thematic line “Adequate housing at the center of urban planning”, positioning the right to housing as a guiding principle for urban interventions and contributing to more inclusive and sustainable cities.
