The panel “Cities of Care: Governance, Health, and Social Innovation for Inclusion” is part of the UN-Habitat Urban Circuit 2025 and focuses on strategies to address urban inequalities through innovative public policies, management practices, and new forms of governance. Held in an online format, the discussion brings together researchers with solid experience in regional development, public health, cooperativism, and smart cities. The goal is to highlight how care can become a guiding principle in urban planning — linking health, human rights, social innovation, and digital governance. The event will address multiple dimensions of care in cities: the perspective of open innovation and citizen inclusion; the role of cooperativism and territorial governance in promoting regional development; health management and patient safety practices as foundations for inclusive public policies; and the importance of digital governance and institutional capacity in protecting human rights. From these complementary perspectives, the panel seeks to inspire public managers, academics, and civil society to strengthen innovation ecosystems and urban policies that foster social justice, equity, and quality of life for all.
