The event aims to discuss urban planning in Recife with a focus on reducing inequalities, improving quality of life, and promoting social, racial, and environmental justice. Focusing on the city is essential, as Recife is ranked the 16th most climate-vulnerable city in the world, according to the UN’s IPCC. To this end, a roundtable will bring together speakers specializing in urban resilience and socio-environmental justice, along with collectives, organizations, and public officials working on these issues. The discussion will take an interdisciplinary approach to deepen public understanding of how collaboration among different sectors of civil society can help address urban inequalities—connecting resilience, sustainability, and equity.
