This event is part of the Urban Circuit 2025 and aims to highlight the local experience of collective organization around solid waste management. The activity will showcase the journey of the Recicla Serra Talhada Cooperative, formed by waste pickers who achieved improved working and income conditions following the implementation of the municipality’s selective waste collection policy. The event will take a participatory format, featuring video screenings, an institutional presentation, and a discussion circle addressing topics such as productive inclusion, reduction of inequalities, recognition of the role of recycling workers, and the strengthening of social justice. The meeting seeks to bring society closer to the reality of waste pickers, foster dialogue on the positive impacts of this public policy, and inspire new socio-environmental inclusion initiatives.
